Fresh out of a national lockdown (say what??!) I was desperate to head out and breathe in the beautiful, Scottish outdoors. Throughout my time in quarantine, I kept myself motivated by scouting online, areas within my region that could offer something new and exciting, photographically. Additionally, I felt a simple desire to explore this beautiful country that we so often take for granted. Unbeknownst to me, this would later inspire a personal project idea, of exploring and documenting trips to each and every public castle within Aberdeenshire, of which there are many!
First up, Craigievar Castle. This pretty pink castle, located off into the countryside of Alford is so special and unique. I believe this castle had greatly influenced Walt Disney's iconic Disney castle and so I felt it was particularly fitting that I dress accordingly! It's very remote in location and so with the privacy, my typical timid nature towards taking self-portraits in public completely dissipated. I cannot recommend a visit to this beauty enough! Perhaps a lovely afternoon picnic or simply a nice stroll across the grounds. Can't beat it.
As for my next castle destination - keep your eyes peeled!
